Etienne’s Party

Filed under: Special Events — Dad @ 3:42 pm

Cezanne was very exited to be part of her brother’s party, but all she really wanted to do was the zip line at My Gym 🙂

Due to many shared friends there were siblings of Etienne’s friends that we invited to the party so Cezanne had a few 6 year old girls to party with.

As you can see Cezanne was her calm, quiet self… ( yeah right ! )

Gators Gallop for Green

Filed under: Special Events — Dad @ 3:35 pm

As the school year starts so to does the fund raising at John Green Elementary School. Each class picks a theme and gets into the spirit by dressing up and having fun running around the field for about 30 minutes to collect money for the PFC who sponsor programs like art and music at the school.

Cezanne used the event to socialize with all her friend but found a few laps where she was on her own and then put in some effort and actually ran ! There was even time for a little love for her biggest fan, her brother who had come to cheer her on. After the running was done, the class posed for a photo with their teacher ( sub ) Mrs. Sales.

Tooth Lost !

Filed under: Physical Development,Special Events — Dad @ 3:32 pm

Cezanne had an exciting day at school on Wednesday this week when she lost a tooth during circle time. She had been working on this tooth for the last two weeks and finally it just fell out. She bagged it and brought it home and got to write her name of the “I lost a tooth” chart in the class ! The Tooth Fairy brought her a couple of dollars and 20 Jamaican Dollars, she must have been on vacation when she got the call that Cezanne had lost a tooth, sorry about that Tooth Fairy…

Ferry Boats

Filed under: Special Events — Dad @ 3:27 pm

With the summer days stretching out into September we felt we needed to get out of the house and just do something a little different so we decided to check out the town of Sausalito which is just north of San Francisco and apparently very quaint. We drove over to Sausalito and parked the car and then took the Ferry boat across to San Francisco and got great views of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. I have taken up cycling and noticed how many beautiful bicycles there were rolling along the roads around Sausalito. Next time I hope to be on one of them…

Back to School Fairy ?

Filed under: Special Events — Dad @ 3:25 pm

Not really sure there is such a thing, but Cezanne thought it was just wonderful that somebody brought her a little something to say “Well done and congratulations on starting First Grade !”

First Grade Starts !!

Filed under: Special Events — Dad @ 7:59 pm

Real school officially started for Cezanne. It sure helped that she did her kindergarten year at the same school because now she knew exactly where she was going and while she knew she would not be in class with all the same people, she knew she would still get to see them on the playground. She started First grade with great excitement and eagerness.

Arizona Swim Vacation

We finally took the camera to the pool for some shots of the kids splashing and swimming.

Cezanne had been watching the Olympics and decided that her new hero was Missy Franklin.

The summer swim lessons were showing evidence of a great improvement in Cezanne’s confidence in the water.

We got so busy swimming each moment we had we never really got a chance to drive out into the desert at sunset for a great “sunset with cactus” photo that Lanelle wanted. This was the best we could manage…

Summer Vacation 2012 – Arizona

We took a short vacation in the middle of summer to the desert of Arizona – the idea being go some where super hot and be 100% sure you can swim each and every day for pretty much as many hours as you want to ! Mission accomplished ! We found a great deal on a week long vacation in Phoenix / Scottsdale at a Water park Resort Hotel. We swam so much that we did not spend really any time at the side of the pool so we left the camera in the room for most of the vacation. We did have to throw in the towel most days over lunch time due to the extreme heat and during one such break from the pool we went to an aquarium at a nearby mall.

Camping Queen, Frisbee Flyer & Driftwood Rockstar

Filed under: Places Visited,Special Events — Dad @ 4:37 pm

Our summer camping trip to Bodega Bay with Friends Liam & Keira. The weather was NOT fun at all with gale force winds almost destroying our brand new tent. We also discovered that the climate at the beach is a lot more mild than we expected. When we left home it was about 88F and I suggested to Lanelle that she throw a warm set of clothes into the car for each kid and herself, just in case, by the time we arrived at the camp site the temperature was about 57F with +30 mile per hour winds. We lasted one night and then gave up 🙁

Cezanne, Keira, Liam and Etienne loved the camping and the climbing and the beach !!

Cezanne discovered a Frisbee in amongst the beach toys that Liam and Keira had brought along and really enjoyed throwing it as hard as she could and then chasing it down again !

We did spend most of the next day on the beach in warm clothes ( except the kids who did not seem to bothered by the cold ). Cezanne and Keira created a surf board store, and you can see Cezanne riding one of their surf boards. We also had to have a photo shoot near the drift wood, the poses slowly became more extreme until finally some sort of beach rockstar emerged…

Party Party Party Party Party Party

Filed under: Special Events — Dad @ 4:16 pm

Hello Kitty, if you don’t know is a Japanese cartoon character created in 1974 by Yuko Shimizu. Sanrio who owns the Hello Kitty brand earned over $1 billion annually in sales outside of Japan, as of 2003. ( per the Hello Kitty wiki ). If you have a 5 or 6 year old girl you will know all about Hello Kitty…

So for her 6th Birthday Party we just had to have a Hello Kitty Birthday Party !

Cezanne and all her friends out in the backyard. Jori, Sophia and Cezanne. Cezanne trying to get Keira to warm up to the party…

Finally it was time for cupcakes and the blowing out of the candle.

The highlight of the party was the pinata, and the best part of all was that Cezanne did actually end up with the last ribbon which was the all important ribbon that when pulled opened up the pinata and showered her and all her friends in candy.
