Spoon Fed by Self !
August 30, 2007 by Dad.
Despite the pain of teething ( cutting more than 1 at a time really hurts, and makes the whole house unhappy ! ) Cezanne is showing her independence, no rather demanding it by refusing to eat the “baby food” that we have been spoon feeding her. She is now a big girl and feeds herself all her finger foods - she has started working on using a spoon now as well…
I took some video of this as well click the 2 links below to see Cezanne eating like a big girl

Ag, Teething Sucks !
August 30, 2007 by Dad.
Oh my soul ! I have been away for a couple of days this week and on my return I found we had a little girl with so many new teeth and in so much pain she was just not the same fun loving little doll that I know her to be.
With little to do today I took time to spend with the girls and I think they enjoyed it, although Cezanne had little time or patience for my silliness and everything had to go her way or else ! Each fall, bump and “ouchie” resulted in tears which is never the case.
So now, at 7:30pm with Cezanne in bed, we are both finally at peace and able to rest. We just hope she gets some rest too and that the OraJel and Teething Tables work their magic.

Double Blogging
July 23, 2007 by Dad.
In order to make up for the gaps in the blog I will post more news today…
Cezanne is now picking up more of the sign language, she can sign “more” and this morning she made the “juice” sign.
If you watch the movie / slide show of Kaden’s party you will see her making the more sign in the very last photo… See how I get you to watch all my hard work all the way to the end
Cezanne is also now able to stand up and walk with much more stability, we chased one another around the basement a bit after her morning nap today and she really enjoyed that ! We plan to get take more movies and place them on the web site since the photos can only capture a moment and the movies just show so much more !

Please Stand Up !
July 18, 2007 by Dad.
Cezanne stood up and walked on her own for the first time today. In fact just now in the basement we prompted her to stand up and she did it twice - great progress but I am sure we will soon regret her new found mobility !
I will still update the blog with the past few weeks but just had to get this new news out there ![]()

First Steps Solo
June 23, 2007 by Dad.
There is no photographic evidence, but I did want to get this in here so we can go back to this entry at some point in the future and see that today Cezanne took her first few steps solo.
Lanelle and I took her down to the basement and encouraged her to walk between us, she managed it a few times before becoming tired / bored with it and moving on to other fun & games.

Finally… a 3rd tooth !
May 16, 2007 by Dad.
Lanelle found a 3rd tooth slowly making it’s appearance - top center - so soon the little biter will be able to do more damage when chewing on things…
Well at least meal times will be a bit more rewarding as she will actually be able to bite off smaller chunks - something that has frustrated her todate.

A Busy Week - Swimming, No More, Biting & Snorting
May 10, 2007 by Dad.
Finally I get around to logging more updates in the life and times of Cezanne. It has been a busy week with lots of things to report.
Saturday morning saw Dad take Cezanne to swim class, just the two of us while Mom got some time to herself - which she used to clean - not the idea, but it was something we just did not get around to with little miss C at our feet and into everything. Swim class was a blast. We got there early and were able to get in and swim - it almost turned into a private lesson but then the other little swimmers did show up and we sang and swam and splashed and had a wonderful time.
Sunday was more swimming in the pool at home and exploring the garden while Mom & Dad tried to get some gardening done, this does not work well, Cezanne gets into everything and just does not seem to trust us when we tell her that grass and soil do not taste good.
It was also the last of the Mini Gym classes so now we need to find another activity for Cezanne where she can crawl and interact with other kids in an active environment. She seems quite happy to crawl and is making no attempt to walk yet - we are also happy with this arrangement :-)
During the week we learned to make the “All Done” sign when we were full or finished eating. To my delight it was very obvious. I had seen some examples on these “Baby Signs” DVDs where the baby attempts to make a sign and it looks nothing like the sign - Cezanne actually made it very clearly and what was more impressive is that the sign is actually very close to “clapping hands” which she does very well, this was NOT “clapping hands”. As further evidence - as you can tell I really need proof before I officially log any development with this test subject - today when she made the “All Done” sign I tested her with another spoon yogurt and she promptly removed the mouthful and made the sign again. In my book this is classified as a pass.
Cezanne has also started making the funniest snorting face - she scrunches up her nose and face and then snorts in and out - I really need to try capture it, I have to laugh every time she does it - it is just so funny.
On the “not so cute” side Cezanne has started biting and even with just 2 teeth it is actually quite painful, she does not respond to “NO” but it seems to be a mood thing, at times she thinks she is very funny and then bites and laughs about it. This has not happened too often and I hope it passes quicky… I suppose we have to take the good with the bad
Ruth your comments make me feel a bit better about it
I can not imagine that in a month and 10 days she will be 1 year old ! Where did the time go ?

I LOVE SWIMMING !
April 28, 2007 by Dad.
Lanelle signed Cezanne up for Swim Class at the YMCA and we thought it could be something that Daddy could do with her on Saturday mornings and give Mommy a little time to get other things done. We all went to the Y in downtown Naperville this morning and while Cezanne was a little unsure of things when we got in, she soon saw how much fun it was and had a wonderful time.
We sang songs and splashed and blew bubbles. Then the babies had to jump off the pool side and swim across the pool. Cezanne loved this ! Then after a while we sang more songs and splashed again and then we were all done. It was so much fun both for Cezanne and for me. We can’t wait for next week !! I think she is going to be a great swimmer
Mommy will try take some photos next week.

Mini Gym !
April 3, 2007 by Dad.
Cezanne is off to Mini Gym today with Mommy. Not sure how she will enjoy it since it is right at nap time but since she seems to love exploring new areas and other babies it should be all she needs to forget about nap time !
Cezanne also got a special “Thank You” from her friend Zack in the U.K. today. We sent Zack a gift for his 1st Birthday and here is the letter we got in return. It was so cool I just had to post it.
