Baseball Babe

Cezanne really loves her sports and games and has taken to both baseball and basketball. Here are a few photos of her in her pretty pink PJs playing baseball in the entry way at home. We are now pitching to her underarm and she is able to get a few good hits in, I am thinking scholarship !!

Cezanne being who she is, nothing can ever just be what it is, she needs to take it and “jazz it up” so we first pose for a regular baseball picture but then we have to really strike a pose for Daddy ! Notice the hand on the hip and also that we can pose both right and left ;-)

We call him Bobby (for now)

Breaking news!

We can finally share with you all that a baby boy is on the way and we now know that he is doing well inside the Mommy.

We had an amniocentesis done and this confirmed for us that it will be a baby boy and we have now started getting Cezanne used to the idea that she will be getting a baby brother and that she will be the big sister.

Below you can see the ultrasounds from April 15 and then again May 14.

As is tradition in this house, we went on a bit of a shopping spree to buy a bunch of boy clothes in celebration of the good news…

The Day After

A party has balloons and when those balloons are no longer floating and you think you can throw them away, your child discovers that they are the greatest toy ever discovered and invents a new game where the rules require no pants !!

Potty Party

Potty Training - why is it so difficult ?

Anyway, some where we heard some smart person make the statement that it is not really potty training but rather an introduction to the great white seat and your child will cross over when they and only they are ready. No amount of pushing or shoving will get them to make the connection. Bribery and Coercion help little too when your child could care less about getting a candy or a sticker or what ever other currency they trade in.

We finally made some progress, although I write this posting on a decidedly bad day to brag…

We set aside a weekend to commit to getting the act of going on the potty down. Saturday & Sunday were both total washouts - in more ways than one… Finally by Monday the sun did start to come out and Cezanne did make a number of attempts to do her thing where it should be done.

Grandma & Grandpa arrived that Monday so now there was somebody else to shower praise on Cezanne when she did her thing on her potty.

By Wednesday we thought we were far enough down the path to diaper freedom that we arranged a little Potty Party for Cezanne and some of her friends for the Thursday. It was a great success, all had a blast as you can see from the photos… The biggest laugh though was with the cake. Cezanne was watching a potty training DVD where the little princess gets Potty Power when she learns to go on the potty and there was a song about it. So we figured out “theme” would be that Cezanne now had Potty Power. We got a cake and asked for the decorator to please write Potty Power on the cake - if you notice the “inscription” reads “Happy Birthday Potty & Power”, clearly having a cake to celebrate Potty Power was less likely than a deranged parent with twins called Potty and Power !

infamous cake
Some love cake and eat it,
others just like to look at it.

Jumping In Puddles

Another rainy day here in Naperville. The grass is growing faster than I can keep it cut. Cezanne saw the puddles on the driveway and just could not resist so we had to go out and let her jump in them…

Biker Girl

Great News - Cezanne’s grandma & grandpa arrived on Monday and can be seen in the background…

It was a really rainy day here so we could only play inside and Cezanne took her bike for another ride up and down the hallway.

Eventually we did have a crash and lots of tears, but these were taken before the incident.

Leila’s Party

A school friend, Leila, had her 3rd Birthday Party over the weekend and we had a blast getting to play with other school friends at My Gym.

Swine Flu == No School

Ok, so maybe I sensationalized the headline, but it sure got your attention.

We had a scare at school with a sick teacher and so school was closed on Wednesday - turns out she was not infected and was just suffering from normal flu.

We then had to figure out what to do with Cezanne and decided to try Airtastic.

Boring - Is it Spring yet ?

Yeah, we know, it has been a while since our last post, so much so that SOME PEOPLE (you know who you are and we love you !) have begun to ask questions…

So in order to satisfy the few that do read this blog here are a few new photos of the first nice Spring day in our backyard.

Lanelle and Cezanne played outside with the water table and slide and then had lunch on the patio.
