Goop, not Pink Eye !
December 8, 2007 by Dad.
Ah, a sign of relief that the goop oozing from Cezanne’s eyes this week was not pink eye, but rather just a double ear infection. We think she must have picked it up at a party we went to last weekend - lots of little germ carrying tots running around…
Anyway, as I said, we are just glad it is not pink eye, but the poor baby is now on a 10 day prescription which has to be ingested ( read injected orally ) and is that an ordeal ! Morning are the worst and we both felt really bad this morning, here is how it happened…
Since getting the medicine Lanelle had been having a really hard time getting it into Cezanne, I was in California and doing it on her own resulted in lots of lost liquid. When I got home on Thursday she wanted to try a more aggressive approach, one hold her down while the other inject the medicine into the back of her mouth so she has to swallow it. Well it was traumatic for all three of us and I really felt bad about it because the screaming and tears where those used to signal the end of the world. Anyway, as always a whole 17 seconds later all was forgiven and forgotten, or so we thought.
Evening are better, Lanelle used ice cream to hide the medicine and it goes down with no fight at all, in fact there are a number of calls for “more”.
This morning we did breakfast and afterwards Lanelle got the medicine ready in the syringe - she told Cezanne that it was time for medicine and showed her the syringe and our little girl went and lay on the carpet where we had pinned her down yesterday, arms by her side, ready for the administration of this “punishment”. We both felt so bad ! Today it went much better, one big gulp and it was all gone and there were hardly any tears.
The good news is that the goop has stopped and she really never showed any signs that she felt bad at all. What a trooper !
